In the aftermath of January 6, 2021, Sgt. Gonell met Dominican President Luis Abinader at the U.S. Capitol. During their conversation Sgt. Gonell was asked if there was anything needed or could be done for him. Sgt. Gonell responded, “Mr. President, if you are planning to do something for me, please pave the road from my hometown, Los Limones, in the Dominican Republic.” Sgt. Gonell continue to advocate for the road to be build and for the President to fulfill his promise.
